OLA students inducted into national math honor society

Forty-one students were inducted into the Our Lady Academy chapter of Mu Alpha Theta National Mathematics Honor Society. Mu Alpha Theta is an international high school and junior college mathematics honor society founded in 1957. The principal purpose of the society is to stimulate a deeper and more effective interest in mathematics. Faculty adviser is Amy Ashley. Membership is based on an overall GPA of 3.5, as well as a 3.0 GPA earned in at least two college preparatory mathematics courses. More than 250 attended the ceremony. Honor society members are planning special events for underclassmen, including math competitions and games, a schoolwide Pi Day celebration and community service projects.
