MGCCC instructors receive Humanities Council awards

Three Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College instructors were chosen to receive 2015 Mississippi Humanities Council Humanities Teacher Awards.

Angela Frazier, a composition and world literature instructor at the Jefferson Davis campus, Rodney Mooney, an intermediate English and reading, composition and literature instructor at the Jackson County campus, and Stacey Payton, a beginning and intermediate English and reading, composition and world literature instructor at the Perkinston campus, will be honored at an awards banquet in February.

They will also each deliver a free public lecture in November.

Payton will present "A Stitch in Time" at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Perkinston Campus Community Arts Center.

Frazier will present "Contents May Vary: Marketing the Humanities to our Students," at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Jefferson Davis Campus Cafeteria Banquet Room.

Mooney will deliver "Teaching Comics, 'Rise of the Underdog'" at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Jackson County Campus Warner Peterson Administration Building in the lecture hall.
