Four students from the Bay St. Louis-Waveland School District were selected to participate in the Trent Lott Leadership Institute at the University of Mississippi. From left: Bay High seniors Cameron Breland and Addie Haas, and freshmen Marion Pohl and Daniel Eberhart. Eberhart was unable to attend the summer program but Pohl attended the two-week session for rising ninth-graders, while Breland and Haas attended an extensive five-week session that included a trip to Washington, D.C. Initiated in the summer of 2000, the Leadership Institute was created to develop leadership skills in young citizens and help prepare them for the challenges of college. Student leaders were selected from across the Southeast, with only 40 total seniors and 48 total freshmen chosen from all applicants.
