USM to host STEM careers program for high school students

Mississippi Gulf Coast high school students will be able to attend a Science Careers and Research Encounters program at the University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Park campus in Long Beach on Oct. 24.

The event, set for 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is just the second time the program has been conducted at the Gulf Park campus.

It is free of charge and designed to educate high school students, teachers and counselors about career and research option on fields related to science, technology, engineering and math.

The deadline to register is Oct. 21 and the event is limited to 100 participants. Those interested in participating can call (228) 452-9188 or email Shelia Brown at shelia.brown@usm.edu.
