A humid and sunny summer day greeted kids of all ages as they filed off buses and walked to class for their first day back at school after the summer break.
The Ocean Springs’ School District welcomed back all of its students this week for the first day of the 2022-2023 school year. The district also welcomed grades kindergarten, fourth, seventh and ninth on Thursday for a preview day.
Notably absent were masks, social distancing measures and other signs of the COVID pandemic as many schools, including the Ocean Springs’ school district, enter their first possibly full school year without COVID measures since the pandemic began.
Ocean Springs’ began last school year with a masking requirement but dropped it in September 2021.
