Biloxi High student arrested after loaded gun found in backpack, school district says
A Biloxi High School student brought a loaded gun to school in a backpack Tuesday morning, the school district reports.
“No threats were made and the weapon was never exposed,” the district said in an email. “The student has been arrested and will be disciplined in accordance with school district policy.”
The gun was discovered when the student was searched for another matter, the notice said.
This comes one week after two Biloxi students were reportedly playing with an unloaded gun at a school bus stop on Oct. 19.
In that incident, Biloxi Junior High and High administrators immediately located and searched the students, and reported that one student was found to have an unloaded gun without a magazine or bullets.
Superintendent Marcus Boudreaux asks parents and others in Biloxi to talk to students about weapons and reporting suspicious activity.
“Parents and community members, I urge you to have meaningful conversations with your children to discuss the severity and danger of these activities,” he said.
Boudreaux said the community must work as a team to provide safe schools.
“Please take some time today to talk to your child about the importance of always reporting potentially dangerous situations,” he said.
