Moss Point schools are officially reopening classrooms in October. Here’s the plan.
After nearly two months of virtual learning, the Moss Point schools will welcome students back to campus in October, the district announced yesterday.
The return to campus will be staggered by grade level and school, starting on Oct. 5. All Moss Point High School students will return on Oct. 13.
After students return, the district expects they’ll remain on campus for the rest of the semester. Here’s the reopening schedule.

Escatawpa Upper — 3rd Grade
Magnolia Middle School — 6th Grade

“Safety and quality instruction are our top priorities,” the district said on Facebook. “Please remember to send your student to school with their Chromebook, Chromebook charger, a mask and a water bottle.”
Moss Point was the only district on the Coast to reopen fully virtually.
At the time, Superintendent Shannon Vincent cited a recommendation from a group of Mississippi pediatricians that schools delay reopening in person until cases in the area were on a downward trajectory.
To facilitate virtual learning, the district helped families buy internet packages and distributed chromebooks to students without devices of their own.
