Brad Paisley crashes Mississippi teachers’ Zoom meeting
A group of Oak Grove Elementary School teachers in Hattiesburg had their weekly zoom video conference crashed by country music singer Brad Paisley.
Ashlyn Williamson, who teaches third grade at the elementary school decided to invite Paisley to their “Teacher Night In” zoom meeting of about 20 teachers, after seeing the singer’s surprise appearance during another group’s video meeting.
Paisley posted a cellphone number for fans to text if they wanted him to join their meeting.
“On a whim, I decided to invite him to our “Teacher Night In” and never in a million years did I think Brad Paisley would actually jump on,” Williamson said.
Williamson said several of the teachers had been feeling down about being out the classroom due to the coronavirus outbreak. She thought the call would lift their spirits.
“We are still plugging along with digital learning, but we definitely miss being able to see our sweet kids every day and give them a hug or high-five of encouragement,” Williamson said.
After being on the call for 15 minutes, Williamson noticed Paisley was online and added him to the meeting. Paisley joined the meeting with a “Star Wars” Mandalorian helmet and when he revealed himself the teachers screamed with excitement.
While on the call Paisley said he was appreciative of all that teachers were doing; and gave some encouraging words for Oak Grove’s seniors.
“We were shocked! I made him sing because I didn’t believe him!” Payne said. “And he gave a sweet message to our senior children that I recorded.”
“It was super kind of him to jump on with us just to say hi,” Williamson said. “He didn’t get anything out of it besides our happiness and cheering us up, which we definitely needed.”
