Update: Fort Bayou drawbridge working again, traffic moving after malfunction
For the second consecutive year, the Fort Bayou Drawbridge in Ocean Springs malfunctioned during Cruisin’ The Coast.
MDOT reported Saturday morning at 10:17 a.m. that the bridge was stuck in an open position and urged drivers to find an alternate southbound route to Ocean Springs and northbound to Interstate 10. The problem lated about an hour, with the problem being addressed and traffic moving again at about 11 a.m.
The bridge malfuctioned on the same date, Oct. 11, during last year’s Cruisin’ The Coast. That malfunction happened around 3:30 p.m. on a Friday and lasted for about an hour and a half. This year’s malfunction happened on the busiest day of the biggest Cruisin’ The Coast.
