  • Cruisin' The Coast adds Buffett tributes, Bag of Donuts and a second-line parade.
  • Venues from Bay St. Louis to Pascagoula open Thu-Sat; Jones Park returns as hub.
  • Schedule features Burn 'Em Up burnouts, Vicari auction and celebrity appearances.

New events are on tap Thursday as Cruisin’ The Coast fans out across South Mississippi to venues where Jimmy Buffett and New-Orleans style music and second line will be celebrated along with the antique cars.

The venues are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday and each has its charms. Downtown Ocean Springs is known for its shady oak tress. Pascagoula has shade and the beach. Bay St. Louis is probably the most lively stop and Edgewater Mall has the advantage of a place to shop between looking at the cars.

Burn ‘Em Up In The Pass is the sanctioned place for burnouts and one of the favorite Cruisin’ events. It will rev up spectators to follow Pass Christian High School Jazz Band in a second line down Second Street to the stage. That’s an experience drivers and spectators won’t find at other car shows.

Pascagoula, where singer Jimmy Buffett was born, will host Buffett & Bumpers Block Party in the city’s revitalized downtown Thursday. Buffett Beach Band will cover his music while fans raise a tropical drink to the legendary singer-songwriter.

To mark the return of Cruise Central to Jones Park, the popular New Orleans party band Bag of Donuts will don costumes and perform songs through the eras.

Favorite events also return Thursday. Vicari Auction gets under way at the Coast Coliseum and Thursday is the day for those on a budget to start shopping. Rare collector and featured cars, like a 1958 Porsche 356 convertible, go up for bid on Saturday.
