Trucker wakes up to find man inside his trailer

A man who climbed into the trailer of an 18-wheeler while the driver slept has been arrested on an auto-burglary charge, Sheriff Troy Peterson said.

Deputies arrested Malcolm Joseph Dedeaux Sr., 48, of 28th Street in Gulfport, on Tuesday.

The driver called for help Aug. 18 from the Chevron station on Firetower Road in Pass Christian. He reported he was sleeping in his truck’s cab when movement in his trailer woke him up, Peterson said.

The driver said he got out and found a man in the trailer’s rear end. He said the man ran away before deputies arrived.

Dedeaux was held at the Harrison County jail on a $100,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner.
