Police hunting man considered armed and dangerous

Moss Point police have one person in custody and are searching for another in a shooting Friday afternoon, according to Special Operations Commander Stacey Deans.

Police have identified Jonathan Williams, 27, as the alleged shooter and are asking for help to find him. He should be considered armed and dangerous, Deans said.

A warrant has been issued for Williams’ arrest on a charge of aggravated assault.

Already in custody is Kimyatte Stewart, 21, of Moss Point, on a charge of accessory after the fact. She is accused of assisting Williams in the aftermath of the shooting.

Police began their investigation at 3:03 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of a shooting near Shortcut Road and Frederick Street, Deans said.

At the scene, police found the victim lying in a ditch suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to an area hospital and was in stable condition Tuesday.
