Vehicle that hit pedestrian missing a mirror, sheriff says

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run accident that left a Hattiesburg man injured, Sheriff Mike Ezell said.

A deputy was patrolling along Cook Road in the St. Martin community when he noticed several people on the side of road trying to help someone. When the deputy got out, he found Donald Goff, 51, suffering from injuries.

Goff was conscious and able to tell the deputy someone in a silver or gold vehicle struck him around 9 p.m. Friday. Goff was taken to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport for treatment.

A deputy found the vehicle’s passenger side mirror on the ground next to Goff. Deputies believe the mirror came from a newer model vehicle because it had LED lights on it. The mirror was gray.
