A woman dressed in black with a black bag and black hat or hood to match robbed a Hancock Bank on U.S. 90 while armed with two butcher knives Wednesday.
Someone from the bank called police at 1:50 p.m. to report the robbery, and reported the woman left traveling westbound on the highway, also known as Bienville Boulevard, police Capt. William Jackson said.
The woman came in with the knives and knocked a customer out of the way as she approached a teller, he said. The bank reported the woman displayed two knives and demanded a teller give her money.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and released a picture to help identify her.
The picture shows she wore black clothes, black sunglasses and covered her head with some type of black apparel as well. She also wore what appeared to be blue plastic gloves as she held up a black purse or bag to hold cash turned over by a bank teller.
The woman ran out of the bank and through the parking lot on the building’s east side, where it appears she fell in a ditch, Jackson said. When she fell, a dye pack the teller had placed in her bag exploded.
The woman was last seen heading west in a silver or gray car, he said. Police believe the car is a Cadillac, possibly a CTS model.
