A traffic stop in Biloxi led to the arrest of a Gulfport man who police say had several thousand dollars of counterfeit checks.
Police Lt. Christopher De Back said David Allen Russell, 32, was in a passenger in a vehicle stopped Saturday about 3:15 a.m. near Beach Boulevard and Porter Avenue. De Back said Russell left the car and ran. He was caught in the area and arrested on a charge of possession of counterfeit instruments.
De Back said Russell had more than $5,000 of bogus checks on him when he was arrested.
His bond was set by Judge Albert Fountain at $10,000.
