A man who’s admitted setting fire to his parents’ home and shooting at two Ocean Springs police officers is set for sentencing Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court.

Timothy Beaugez accepted a plea deal June 30.

Ocean Springs police have said Beaugez set fire to his parents’ home on General Pershing Avenue and fired a shotgun at two officers. Pellets hit one officer in the face.

Beaguez’s father, a retired Jackson County judge and Ocean Springs police officer, and other relatives were in the home when the fire started Oct. 9, 2013.

Police said Beaugez used gasoline and a 2-liter soda bottle to set the wood-framed home on fire. The blaze gutted a portion of the home.

Police arrested him on charges of first-degree arson, shooting into a dwelling and two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.
