Diamondhead police on arrested a man Sunday who they say orchestrated a scheme to lure three teens to his home where he and two other men robbed them.
Hancock County Chief Deputy Don Bass said Monday that Denzell Smith, 23, was arrested Monday morning on a charge of armed robbery.
Bass said Smith used a 15-year-old girl to lure the three teen boys to his home on Lilinoe Way.
“The female called the boys and said she wanted to ‘party’ with them,” Bass said. “She asked them to bring some marijuana with them and they would all have a good time.”
The boys, whose names were not released because they are minors, apparently agreed and showed up a short time later with some marijuana, Bass said.
“When they went inside, there were three adult males waiting for them,” Bass said. “They had knives and robbed the kids, taking cash, jewelry, cell phones, shoes, the marijuana and a rosary.”
One of the boys was able to exit the home and police were later called to investigate.
Police arrested Smith and the girl, but the two other men had fled the home, Bass said.
The girl will be charged through Hancock County Youth Court, Bass said.
He said deputies are seeking information on the other men involved.
No injuries were reported.
