ICE agent shoots suspect in Laurel

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer was involved in a line-of-duty shooting in Laurel on Wednesday night.

An ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officer responded to a request for assistance made by local police on a traffic stop in Laurel, according to ICE Public Information Officer Bryan Cox. There were two people in the vehicle.

When the officer arrived, he found a man in the vehicle actively resisting police. The ICE officer told told him to stop in both English and Spanish, and when the man reached into his clothing, the officer fired one shot.
