Law enforcement fundraiser is a scam

The Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to the public that a company is trying to solicit donations for an unapproved campaign, claiming to be in support of Hancock County law enforcement.

Someone is calling people and claiming to be with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. The caller is trying to get money for a so-called "Support the Blue" fundraiser, Sheriff Ricky Adam said.

Officials said the supposed fundraiser is not a part of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. They urge anyone who receives such a call to report it to central dispatch at (228) 255-9191.
