Biloxi police arrest 2 men after shooting involving teens
Three people inside a vehicle in Biloxi Wednesday were uninjured after Biloxi police say multiple shots were fired, and on Friday two men were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Judge Sekul Avenue and Bayly Drive in Biloxi at 5:43 p.m. Wednesday. They found a vehicle had been shot at multiple times but the three inside, all in their late teens and early 20s, were not hit.
Police said an investigation revealed that Sammie Lee Stallworth, 22, of Biloxi, was driving another vehicle that also was occupied by Emanuel Olivarez Chavez, 22, of Biloxi. As Stallworth drove, police said, Chavez leaned out one of the windows and fired at the victim’s car. Stallworth then fled the scene, according to police, and the vehicle he was driving later was recovered empty in the 1600 block of Irish Hill.
Warrants were obtained for the men’s arrest. Police said Stallworth was located Friday in the 7000 block of Woolmarket Road, and Chavez was found in the 200 block of Laurel Court.
Chavez was charged with three counts of aggravated assault. Justice Court Judge Bruce Strong set his bond at $100,000 per charge, or a total of $300,000.
Stallworth was charged with accessory after the fact, and his bond was set at $50,000.
Both were transported to the Harrison County jail.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information is asked to call Biloxi Police Dispatch at 392-0641, the Criminal Investigations Division at 435-6112 or Crime Stoppers at (877) 787-5898.
