Man served with burglary warrant while in jail for robbery
A man accused of burglarizing ABC Rental on Hewes Avenue had already been arrested on an unrelated robbery charge in Biloxi when Gulfport police identified him as the burglary suspect.
Gulfport police served Keith Denzell Simpson, 26, with a warrant on a commercial burglary charge Wednesday at the Harrison County jail. He’s been in jail since Sunday on the robbery charge.
Gulfport patrol officers went to ABC Rental at 12:54 a.m. Sunday after its burglar alarm sounded, police Sgt. Damon McDaniel said.
Officers looked at surveillance video and saw a man force his way into the business, steal tools and leave in a white sport utility vehicle, he said.
Investigators identified Simpson as the man in the video.
Simpson was being held on a $100,000 bond on the robbery charge.
Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner set a $50,000 bond on the burglary charge.
