Bay St. Louis police arrested a Metairie man Saturday who they say entered a home on DeMontluzin Avenue, took several items and then stood naked over the lady of the house, touching himself.

Bay Police Chief Mike De Nardo said Monday that William Rexford, 30, was arrested on charges of burglary and indecent exposure.

De Nardo said Rexford apparently entered the home through a side door about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

“There were two people inside, a husband and wife,” he said. “The husband was on the couch sleeping and the wife was lying in bed, playing a game on her phone.”

De Nardo said Rexford took several items from the home and then walked past the sleeping man toward the bedroom.

“The wife heard something, but she thought it was her husband coming to bed,” De Nardo said. “When she looked up, she saw a shadow of a man with his pants around his ankles.” That’s when she realized the man was not her husband.

“He was standing over her with his genitals in his hand and exposing them in her direction,” De Nardo said. The woman screamed, which woke up her husband, who quickly came to the bedroom to see what was going on, De Nardo said.

“The husband pushed him out of the room and held him there until police arrived,” De Nardo said.

Rexford appeared to be intoxicated when officers arrived, De Nardo said. He was arrested and booked at the Hancock County Jail. He was still incarcerated at press time Tuesday, and a bond has yet to be set.
