Transgender man expected to enter a plea in sex crimes case involving transgender minor

JACKSON COUNTY -- A transgender man from Lucedale is set to enter a plea Friday to charges of sexual battery of a transgender minor.

Krishna "Kris" Maroney is expected to enter the plea before Circuit Judge Dale Harkey.

A Jackson County grand jury indicted Maroney on two counts of sexual battery for alleged sex acts that occurred between Nov. 15 and Dec. 25, 2013.

He was first arrested in George County shortly after the victim reported the allegations there.

Sexual battery is punishable by up to 20 years.
