Authorities in Texas have found the body that may be that of missing Pascagoula woman Jessie Bardwell.

Richardson police Sgt. Kevin Perlich confirmed a body was found late Thursday afternoon in a rural area of Farmersville, Texas, a small town northeast of Dallas.

Perlich said Richardson investigators searched the area after they got several tips and other information during the investigation.

Agents with the FBI's Evidence Recovery Team are processing the site of the discovery, which is a wooded area next to a field several hundred yards from the nearest road, Perlich said.

"This is part of the Bardwell investigation," he said. "But I want to emphasize that we have not made a positive ID yet."

Medical examiners recovered the body and took it back to their lab. A positive identification and cause of death is expected to be determined by Friday, Perlich said.

Bardwell was reported missing by family members May 9, Mother's Day. She had moved to Richardson, a suburb of Dallas, in December to live with her boyfriend, Jason Lowe.

Police arrested Lowe on Monday on a murder charge, though Bardwell's body had not yet been found.

Farmersville is a small town northeast of Richardson.
