BILOXI -- Police arrested a man Friday on a felony theft charge after an investigation into two stolen boat motors.

Rickey Hebert Jr., 36, faces a charge of grand larceny.

Biloxi police Investigator Nick Sonnier said police responded Thursday to a report of two boat motors stolen from a residence in the 14000 block of Old Highway 67.

After discovering the theft, the owner began browsing for-sale postings on Craigslist.com to try to find his motors. He eventually came across an ad that contained a photo of one of his motors, Sonnier said.

He contacted the seller, later identified as Hebert, and arranged to meet with him in the parking lot of a Gulfport business. Before the two met, the motors' owner contacted police and requested their presence at the meeting, Sonnier said.

Officers arrested Hebert at the meeting site and recovered one of the boat motors, which was confirmed by serial number to have been stolen. The second motor has not yet been found.

Hebert is being held in the Harrison County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Bruce Strong.
