Teen jailed on $250,000 bond after shots fired
Gulfport police have made an arrest into an apparent shooting Thursday afternoon.
Police Sgt. Damon McDaniel said a 16-year-old from D'Iberville was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault. McDaniel said the teen had been a person of interest in the shooting.
McDaniel said shots were fired about 12:30 Thursday afternoon in the 2600 block of George Street. He said a boy told police he was walking in the George Street area when someone pulled a handgun on him and fired it, then ran away.
No one was injured. A warrant was issued for the arrest of the 16-year-old.
The 16-year-old turned himself in to the police Friday. He was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where his bond was set at $250,000 by Judge Melvin Ray.
McDaniel said although an adult bond was set for the crime, he could not release the teen's name because of a new state law.
