GULFPORT -- Police on Monday identified a man wanted on a charge of murder in connection to the April 9 shooting death of 27-year-old Dennis Bunch.

The Gulfport Police Department issued a warrant for 20-year-old Jaquarius Jermon Shields. Police also are asking the public to help locate Shields.

Police spokesman Sgt. Damon McDaniel said Shields is wanted on a murder charge in connection to a fatal shooting at Dolan Commons Apartments, on the 2400 block of 31st Street.

Officers responded to the shooting at about 1:20 p.m. April 9, and on arrival found a man, later identified as Bunch, in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Bunch later died from his wounds.

Detectives later learned Shields and Bunch had been arguing in the parking lot when Shields brandished an unknown caliber firearm and shot Bunch. Shields then fled the scene by vehicle, McDaniel said.

The incident remains under investigation.
