Coroner IDs man shot dead in Gulfport

GULFPORT -- Dennis Bunch, 27, of Gulfport has been identified as the man shot dead about 2 p.m. Saturday on 31st Street near 24th Avenue.

Coroner Gary Hargrove said Sunday evening that Bunch was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m. Saturday.

Hargrove said Bunch died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Gulfport police are still trying to determine who shot Bunch near Dolan Commons Apartments.

Police Sgt. Damon McDaniel said anyone with information should call the department at 868-5959 and ask for a detective.

This is the second fatal shooting in the city in three days. A Wednesday night shooting near the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Louisiana Avenue left one man dead and two others injured.
