PICAYUNE -- A Picayune man has been producing child pornography and sexually abusing a 7-year-old, officials said.
David Owens, 39, was arrested Wednesday on charges of production and possession of child pornography and sexual battery of a minor, Attorney General Jim Hood said in a press release.
Owens was arrested at his home by investigators from the Attorney General's Cyber Crime Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force with help from the Pearl River County Sheriff's Office and the Picayune Police Department.
Authorities said they found Owens in possession of child sexual exploitation videos and photos. He also was found to be producing child porn and sexually abusing a 7-year-old, Hood said.

Officers booked him into the Pearl River County jail. If convicted, he faces up to 40 years per count for production and possession of child porn and 30 years for sexual battery of a child.
"As with all cases, a charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," Hood said.
