Man joins wife in being accused of having sex with Ala. student

CARROLLTON, Ala. -- Two days after his wife was accused of having sex with a student, a western Alabama school teacher has been arrested on the same charge.

News outlets report that 32-year-old James Franklin Parker was arrested Wednesday and faces a charge of being a school employee and having sex with a student under the age of 19.

The man's wife, 30-year-old Charli Jones Parker, was arrested Monday. Both teach at Pickens Academy, a private school in Carrollton.

Pickens County District Attorney Chris McCool says James Parker is accused of having sex with a former female student. McCool says the sex acts did not occur at the school. He says the charge carries a potential sentence of two to 20 years in prison.

It is unclear whether either suspect has an attorney.
