Gulfport police search for hit-and-run driver

GULFPORT -- Police are searching for a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run near the Island View casino Saturday.

The vehicle was described as a white pickup with a lifted suspension, possibly a Ford F-250 or similar truck, Sgt. Damon McDaniel said.

The incident occurred about 8:09 p.m. The pickup reportedly struck a woman who was walking near the valet exit of the casino on 33rd Avenue and then fled the scene. The woman was taken to a hospital, with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, McDaniel said.
