Ocean Springs woman stabbed boyfriend in the chest, sheriff says

HARRISON COUNTY -- Deputies arrested a woman Tuesday in the stabbing of her boyfriend in the chest.

Rayla Marie Williams, 38, of Ocean Springs, faces a charge of domestic violence aggravated assault.

Sheriff Troy Peterson said deputies responded to a report of a stabbing near Big John Road and Mississippi 67.

Deputies determined Williams stabbed her boyfriend, Keith Alan Morris, in the chest during a domestic argument, Peterson said. Deputies also discovered the couple's dispute began in Tillman's Corner, Ala., and continued until Morris stopped his vehicle at Big John Road in Biloxi.

Investigator Bill Scarbrough said the couple was fighting while travelling in Morris' vehicle. Williams stabbed him shortly before he stopped the vehicle, Scarbrough said.

Morris was taken to an area hospital where he underwent surgery. His condition is unknown.

Williams is being held in the Harrison County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner.
