Women surrender on fraud charges after seeing their photos in news

BILOXI -- Two women suspected in a recent credit card fraud surrendered to police Thursday after seeing surveillance photos of them on local media, officers said.

Leslie Crystal Walker and Cathy Monique Howard each face a charge of credit card fraud.

Biloxi police Investigator Kris Hines said the two are suspected of stealing a purse from a business in the 900 block of Howard Avenue in January, then using the purse owner's credit cards to buy clothing from several area retailers.

Photos of the women and the vehicle they were traveling in were captured by one store's surveillance cameras. Police released those photos to the Sun Herald on Wednesday, prompting the two to surrender, Hines said.

Walker and Howard are being held in the Harrison County jail on $5,000 bonds each, set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
