JACKSON COUNTY -- Deputies arrested a man Wednesday who they say sent threatening and harassing messages to a church in Ocean Springs.

Vincent Salvador Drummond, 55, of Ocean Springs, faces a charge of cyberstalking.

Deputies began investigating the incident Dec. 18 after they got a report of "electronic communications of a threatening and harassing nature against the pastor, staff and parishioners" of the church, Sheriff Mike Ezell said in a press release. "Some of these communications included both threats of violence and racial slurs," Ezell said.

Drummond is in the Jackson County jail awaiting an initial court appearance.

If convicted of cyberstalking, he faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, Ezell said.
