Police looking for man who robbed Hancock Bank
GULFPORT -- Police are looking for a man who walked into the Hancock Bank Lyman branch on South Swan Road on Friday afternoon and demanded money from a teller.
Sgt. Damon McDaniel said the robber -- shown on surveillance footage -- entered about 5 p.m., went up to a teller window and told the teller he had a weapon.
He took an undisclosed amount of cash and ran away to the south, McDaniel said.
"We don't know if he walked off or had a car stashed nearby," he said.
A crime-scene unit and marked and unmarked police cars filled the bank's parking lot after dark. Investigators were inside working Friday night.
The man police are seeking is about 5-feet-3, about 130 to 150 pounds and was wearing a gray sweater, blue jeans and a black skull cap.
McDaniel said he is armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information regarding the man's identity or whereabouts is asked to call Gulfport police at 868-5959. Information can also be given to Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898. Tips can be sent via text message by typing CSTIP plus the message to 274637.
"Help us locate the suspect and solve this crime," McDaniel said.
