Speeding car on Biloxi sidewalk ends in pot, gun charges
BILOXI -- Police said a speeding motorist starting driving on a sidewalk to avoid patrol officers and was found to be a felon with a gun and marijuana in the vehicle.
Police arrested Arick Emile Collins, 29, of Biloxi, after spotting him about 11:30 p.m. Monday at Esters Boulevard, Detective Grandver Everett said.
Officers stopped the eastbound car and could see marijuana on the front passenger seat, which led to a search and the discovery of a 40-caliber handgun, Everett said.
A criminal history check also showed Collins was out on bond on a charge alleging he assaulted a law enforcement officer.
Police arrested Collins on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain ordered him held with no bond.
Collins was booked at the Harrison County jail.
