3 arrested after armed robbery at Gulfport tobacco store

GULFPORT -- Three people have been arrested after an armed robbery at a Pass Road store Monday afternoon.

At 1:24 p.m., Gulfport police responded to a robbery complaint at Tobacco and Beer Discount Store.

Officers learned a man had approached a store clerk with a handgun, demanded money, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robbery was captured on surveillance video and witnesses were able to describe the vehicle driven by the robber.

The vehicle was later stopped by Biloxi police near Popps Ferry and Pass roads.

In the vehicle were Michael Dwaine Mason, 38, Monica Kristy Wickward, 35, both of Biloxi, and Joseph Lee Wilson, 39, of Eight Mile, Alabama.

All three were arrested on charges of armed robbery and Mason was later identified as the robbery suspect.

They were transported to the Harrison County jail and Justice Court Judge Melvin Ray set Mason's bond at $200,000, and Wickward's and Wilson's bonds at $100,000.
