Police: Mailman punched, cellphone stolen by teenagers in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE -- Officials are investigating after they say a mailman was punched and had his cellphone taken by a group of teenagers.

The incident involving the unidentified U.S. Postal Service letter carrier happened Dec. 31.

Baton Rouge Police spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola says the worker wound up in an altercation with what appears to be about four teenage boys.

Coppola says the mailman told police the group approached him while he was delivering mail. It's unclear what sparked the altercation. The mailman says he was punched and his cellphone was stolen.

A video taken by a bystander shows the teens chasing and taunting the mailman.
