Police: Store clerk kidnapped, robbed in Moss Point

MOSS POINT -- Police are asking for help to identify three people sought in the robbery and kidnapping of a store clerk Sunday at a gas station and convenience store, Moss Point Police Chief Art McClung said.

A robbery was reported as a robbery about 10 p.m. Sunday at the Shell station in the 6500 block of Mississippi 63.

When police arrived, McClung said, the clerk said three masked men had come into the store, grabbed him and forced him into a maroon GMC sport-utility vehicle just outside. The three, drove the clerk to an unknown location nearby, where they stole his cellphone and other items then let him go, McClung said.

The police chief said the clerk walked back to the gas station and reported the incident.

McClung said the clerk did not speak English so translator was brought in and police were able to get limited details about the crime. He said the clerk was unable to provide a detailed description of the robbers.

The clerk suffered minor injuries, he said.

The Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division is heading up the investigation.
