Biloxi armed robbery suspects nabbed in Alabama

BILOXI -- Police say two men suspected in an armed robbery early Wednesday on Bayview Avenue have been taken into custody by state troopers in Alabama.

The armed holdup was reported about 5:45 a.m. in the 800 block of Bayview, police Lt. Christopher De Back said. The victim reported the robber, a man with dreadlocks, got in a four-door car and left.

Police sent out a law enforcement alert and an Alabama state trooper saw the car travelling east on Interstate 10 into Alabama. The trooper followed the car to a home in Mobile County, where two men in the car were taken into custody.

De Back identified the driver as Justin Withers, 25, and his passenger as Jermaine Withers, 21.

Under state law, a person in a getaway car after an armed robbery is charged the same as the one suspected in the holdup.

Justice Court Judge Bruce Strong has signed arrest warrants for each man on a charge of armed robbery.

De Back said the men were being held in Alabama pending an extradition hearing.
