Tipsters help police ID suspect in Biloxi auto burglary, credit card fraud case
BILOXI - Thanks to tips received from the public, police on Monday identified a suspect accused of breaking into a vehicle and stealing a credit card earlier this month.
David Joel Beckman is wanted on charges of auto burglary and felony credit card fraud, Investigator Kris Hines said in a press release.
On Dec. 11, Biloxi police responded to a report of an auto burglary in the 1800 block of Pass Road. One of the items taken from the vehicle was a credit card that was later used at an area business. Police released surveillance photos of the suspect to the Sun Herald on Dec. 18 and received an "overwhelming response" from citizens along the Mississippi Coast, helping officers positively identify Beckman, Hines said.
Police are now asking Beckman to turn himself in to the Biloxi Police Department or nearest law enforcement agency.
Anyone with information as to Beckman's whereabouts is asked to contact Biloxi police at 392-0641 or 435-6112. Tipsters may also email Biloxi's Criminal Intelligence Unit at ciu@biloxi.ms.us or contact Crime Stoppers at (877) 787-5898.
