Jackson County man arrested in assault on girlfriend
A Jackson County man has been accused in an assault on his girlfriend.
Jackson County sheriff's Maj. Ray Bates said Jonathan Wayne Bankester, 32, of Ben Road near the St. Martin area, was arrested Sunday on the charge of domestic violence/aggravated assault.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence call elsewhere on Ben Road, authorities said.
The woman, who said Bankester had assaulted her, was taken to Ocean Springs Hospital by ambulance and then to another facility for surgery.
Bates said Bankester had fled before the deputies arrived.
Bankster was arrested at his home and taken to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.
His bond was set at $25,000 by Judge T. Larry Wilson.
