JACKSON COUNTY -- A Gulf Park Estates resident took action Wednesday when he stopped by his home and saw a strange vehicle in his driveway, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said. Ezell said the resident saw a man pick up a Christmas package that had been delivered there and drive off.

The resident wrote down the tag number on the man's gold Jeep Laredo, dialed 911 and followed the man. Deputies took Jason Robert Phillips, 32, into custody at his home in the 8900 block of Marguerite Drive, Ocean Springs. There they discovered other packages believed to have been stolen from area homes.

Phillips was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property, though the investigation is continuing. He is being held at the Jackson County jail.

Anyone who may have had a package stolen from their home is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at 875-0475.
