D'IBERVILLE -- Officers arrested David Aaron Carpenter on an auto burglary charge after a hotel guest reported someone was inside his vehicle, police Capt. Marty Griffin said.

The burglary was reported about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Suburban Lodge on Rodriquez Street.

Griffin said Carpenter, 37, of Gulfport, was found with items stolen from the vehicle, which had been left unlocked. Investigators are trying to determine if Carpenter also burglarized a different vehicle in the area, he said.

Carpenter was held at the Harrison County jail on a $50,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.

Griffin said the state prison system has placed a hold on Carpenter.

The county jail docket shows Carpenter has had two burglary convictions since 2011.
