GEORGE COUNTY -- A man and a woman with criminal histories in George County are suspected in a string of burglaries over the last couple of months, and sheriff's officials are asking for help to find them.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Shonna Pierce said Billy James Dubose, 49, and Brooklyn Leanne Bennett, 27, are accused of breaking into homes and taking "anything they could find."

Several firearms were taken during the course of the burglaries, Pierce said.

Dubose and Bennett live together in the 5200 block of Mississippi 63 South in George County, she said.

"Both of these suspects have histories of criminal activity," Pierce said.

Dubose was first arrested in George County in 2002. Some of his charges are burglary, grand larceny, drug possession, domestic violence and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Bennett was arrested for uttering forgery, Pierce said.

Sheriff's officials have spent months narrowing down their suspect list, and Pierce said there could be others connected to the burglaries.

"These are the two we need right now," she said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Dubose or Bennett is asked to call the George County Sheriff's Office at 601-947-4811. All tips will remain anonymous.
