Two teens accused in Pascagoula bank robbery

PASCAGOULA -- Police have arrested two teen boys in a robbery Saturday of a bank inside Wal-Mart, Pascagoula police Lt. Jim Roe said.

Police took the teens into custody Monday at their families' homes in Gautier. They have been released to the custody of Jackson County Youth Court to face charges there.

Police said the 14-year-old was caught on surveillance at Woodforest Bank about 1:30 p.m. Saturday. He presented a note to the teller demanding cash.

The teller handed over the cash, Roe said, and the teen ran out to where the 16-year-old was waiting in the parking lot in a white Chevrolet. The two drove away minutes after the robbery. No injuries were reported.

The teens live in Gautier with their families.

During a search of their homes, police said, they recovered a portion of stolen cash and a handgun the 14-year-old had bought with a portion of the stolen money.

The Sun Herald does not identify minors accused in a crime unless they are charged as adults.
