JACKSON COUNTY --A Gautier man will serve five full years in prison for downloading images of children engaged in sex acts.

Circuit Judge Kathy King Jackson on Wednesday sentenced Jarrod Bradley, 42, to 40 years in prison, with five years to serve day for day in prison and 35 years under post-release supervision, five of those under supervised release.

In addition, the judge ordered Bradley to pay a $50,000 fine but suspended $48,000 of the fine, leaving $2,000 to pay along with court costs and $250 to the Crime Victims Compensation Fund. Bradley will have to register as a sex offender all his life.

Jackson County District Attorney Tony Lawrence said authorities discovered several images of children engaged in sex on Bradley's computer hard drive. The crime occurred around Aug. 14, 2012.

"Based on the facts of this case, my office determined that the five-year day-for-day sentence was appropriate under the law," Lawrence said.
