BILOXI -- Two men accused in credit card fraud in D'Iberville are making their way across the Coast using the same stolen credit card information, authorities said.

Biloxi police investigator Steve Schlicht said officers responded to a report Monday after a woman noticed unauthorized purchases made on her debit card at a Wal-Mart two days prior.

Schlicht said it's possible the two men stole the information by using a credit card skimmer, an illegal device commonly installed on gas station pumps to collect sensitive card details.

Thieves then use special equipment to transfer the information onto a blank card, making a reproduction of the victim's card.

Schlicht said the men made the unauthorized purchases from about 3:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday at several stores in Biloxi, D'Iberville and Gulfport.

More than $1,000 in fraudulent charges were made in D'Iberville alone, police said. Investigators are still trying to determine the total amount stolen because the thieves may have used the card in other areas.

Surveillance footage at Wal-Mart shows the men leaving the store in a large white SUV that has a style similar to a Lincoln Navigator or Ford Expedition.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Biloxi Police Department at 392-0641.
