PASCAGOULA -- A Jackson County inmate worker who failed to report to a work detail Tuesday was arrested by federal marshals later that night in D'Iberville.

Dustin David Yates, 33, now faces a misdemeanor escape charge that carries a one-year jail term.

Sheriff Mike Ezell said U.S. Marshals Service agents found Yates about 6 p.m.

Yates had last been seen walking around the old Jackson County Courthouse on Magnolia Street.

He had being held on a shoplifting charge from his arrest in Pascagoula in September.

Agencies assisting in the search included investigators with sheriff's offices in George and Jackson counties and the South Mississippi Metro Enforcement Team.
