Two bodies were found in a vehicle at a Hammond truck stop Monday night after officers conducting a welfare check in Baton Rouge found the home open and the occupants and their vehicle missing.
A concerned relative called Baton Rouge police around 10:15 p.m. to ask officers to check on the family at 5020 Highland Road, Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said Tuesday.
OnStar tracked the family’s missing vehicle to the Petro truck stop at 2100 SW Railroad Ave., near Interstate 12, McKneely said.
Baton Rouge police notified Hammond police who found a pickup truck in a corner of the truck stop, parked in an area where it would not be noticed, said Lt. Vincent Giannobile, of the Hammond Police Department.
